Instead of the normal demo hedge we had a live hedge to work on, which made a nice change, and despite the warm sunshine it was good working on the hazel and thorn hedge which had been previously laid.
A good team effort, over the 3 days meant that the finished hedge looked good and hopefully at next year’s show we will be able to see the result.
It was an opportunity for the public to learn about our craft, understand what’s involved and how much work it is. It is funny when you are working away in the hedge to hear the comments from the visitors, “that’s amazing, how different it looks”, and the question “is it still alive?”
As the park is open to visitors, it means that work carried out on the hedge will be there for them all to see, promoting our craft.
