Thankfully the weather had cooled down compared to the Laughton match the previous weekend, with some cloud cover and a good breeze.
The hedge had been laid a few years ago at a previous ploughing match. It was a mixed hedge with a few gaps along the stretch. One cant had to be left as the wasp nest close to the hedge would have made the laying interesting.
All competitors finished on time and considering the hedge could have done with a couple more years of growth before laying the hedge was a good advert for the craft of hedge laying and the South of England style.
Paul Matthews was the winner, with another fine bit of staking and binding clinching it. Gary Moore was second followed by Clive Gilligan in third.
