As it happens the same site was being used by the APT (aka Bogdgers, www.bodgers.org.uk) so we had a chance to see some other woody craft, and in the woods some guys smelting Iron the way we used to do it in the Roman days (I think).
Two of the team turned up on classic motorbikes so we had quite an event.
Back to the coppicing... We had a reasonable turnout (there was a ploughing match going on so we lost a few members to the hedge laying competition)
Our coppice workers for the day ranged 10 years old to Veteran. Our youngest member Alister was practising his pleaching, which was a great idea, as if he cuts through the stem it really does not matter!
Anyway we managed around 540 binders and I think 220 stakes
